William Pikakelowna Passmore is an Indigenous artist from the Okanagan Arrow Lakes region. His artwork is deeply rooted in his experiences growing up on the reservation, and the traditions and landscape that shaped his childhood.

Much of William’s work draws inspiration from time spent fishing on the reservation with his grandfather, and hunting with his mom. Through his art, he shares stories of these experiences, creating a connection between his cultural heritage and the land that has been an important part of his life.

William has also been inspired by and involved in the artistic practice of his uncle, Joe Fedderson. William grew up going to Joe’s shows and helped Fedderson during a residency at Hilltop glass school. William helped Joe sculpt large glass vessels during his time at the University of Washington, where he studied fine art and 3D/4M sculpture and glasswork. This connection has further shaped William’s understanding of art as a way to carry forward stories or family and cultural traditions.
